Baan (now part of Invensys) supplied the full range of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to a wide range of industries operating from 100+ offices in 37 countries globally with a staff in excess of 6000, 1500 in Consulting. I joined as VP Consulting & Education for Western Europe, Middle East and Africa, one of Baan Consulting’s 3 Regions. After three months I stepped up to the role of President Global Consulting, reporting directly to the CEO, which entailed relocating to the USA. Direct reports of this role included Sales, Marketing, HR, Legal, Finance, Facilities, Investor Relations and Business Services

Highlights:

  • Grew revenue from $150 million in 1997 to $250 million in 1998. Grew profit from $8 million to $30 million in the same period
  • Restructured Consulting into a single Global Business Unit with its own separate and distinct P&L
  • Introduced disciplines and methodologies across the business unit so that utilization and realization improved dramatically
  • At New Holland, the world’s second largest agricultural machinery manufacturer, project direction of the implementation of the complete suite of Baan’s ERP applications software in 9 European countries
  • At BICC, the leading European industrial cable manufacturer, project direction of the implementation of the complete suite of Baan’s ERP applications software across 16 countries worldwide
  • At GEC Marconi, the leading European defence systems manufacturer, project direction of the implementation of the complete suite of Baan’s ERP applications software in 7 European countries
